Taking Fire (and other lies) |
|
by Alexander and Sasser |
As a member of A Troop, 1st Sqdn, 9th Cav during the time period this book is based on and having known and flown with the author as well, I can assure you that despite claims to the contrary, the content of this book is nothing more than a poorly written fiction, replete with offensive, racist bigotry of the worst kind. It also attempts to deceive the reader into the belief that the author was the most decorated helicopter pilot to fly in RVN. This is pure unadulterated cow crap. Check the record for yourself.
This book engages in the trashing of the history of A Troop, 1st Sqdn, 9th Cav, 1st Cavalry Division and the honorable soldiers who served with the unit in 1969 while at the same time embellishing the author's own record in RVN beyond belief.
This most honorable of units deserves much better than this stereotypical crap, dished out to the reader as historical fact, unfortunately for sale in U.S. book stores and worse, seen in public libraries.
The author is attempting to cash in on the accomplishments and memory of others, dozens of whom were KIA, as well as stealing their deeds and actions, claiming them as his own.
He was the Awards and Decorations Officer during this time and had access to many legitimate, authentic narratives he has claimed for himself. This is beneath contempt.
Read this book at your own risk.
Honorable 1/9 Cav Members/Vets know and speak the truth. Ask them about RVN.
Have a good day.
